If my 36" fire pit is 6 inches off the ground, will this protect my pool decking? The cement decking is already flaking from high heat.

Our Answer: While this deck mat will provide some thermal protection, it is likely that flaking will continue beneath the mat. My recommendation would be to elevate the pit at least another 6 inches and use it in conjunction with the mat. Another option would be to use a thicker, higher insulating material beneath the pit, such as a piece of cement board, finished with ceramic tile to create a sort of hearth board.
