Our Answer:

While rain gutters are available for these tents and they are increasingly water resistant, they are still not intended for use in heavy rain. Caravan, among other manufacturers, only offers pop up tents that are intended for mostly fair weather.

I noticed that rain gutters are available for these, so I'm assuming the design has changed. Mine came with 4 sidewalls, 3 of which just Velcro to the legs.
