Does the heat control offer low, medium and high positions or is it variable? If it has 3 positions, what is the BTU if it's set to low or set to medium?

Our Answer: This heater only has one heat setting - 6,000 BTUs. Empire does make other models that provide additional heat settings (number of plaques), such as this one, which does have three settings: Empire SR18 Infrared Vent-Free Gas Heater with Manual Controls - Propane - SR18LP If you were interested in the Empire SR18 Infrared Vent-Free Gas Heater with Manual Controls - Propane, then the three settings on that heater are 6,700 BTUs (one plaque), 12,000 BTUs (two plaques) and 18,000 BTUs (all three plaques).
