We want to install the FMI Bungalow in our 8 x 16 room on an outside wall that is only 8 feet. Will it be possible to use it in this size room? How many inches does the hearth need?

Our Answer: The hearth extension at the front of the fireplace needs to be at least 58.75" wide to adhere to the manufacturer's specifications. A perpendicular wall may not be within 14" of the opening of the fireplace. If the fireplace is centered on the 8' wall, you will have enough room to either side to be within the clearance requirements.
