I have an uneven sloping surface. Would a base of stone graded to level be sufficient? I want to store lawn tractors and an 800 pound log splitter. Do I need the floor kit?

Our Answer:

A foundation of packed limestone or other type of gravel would indeed be sufficient for leveling the shed. Addition of the floor kit is prudent if a sealed, perfectly smooth surface is needed or if the intended build location is prone to drainage issues. Adding the floor kit is only necessary in most cases if you are planning on using the shed as a workshop or have very heavy items that have small casters, which would require a smooth surface to roll on.
