I have a Majestic direct vent gas fireplace that lets in so much cold air I have to cover the glass cover of the fireplace with pillows. What might be the possible solution? Or what is the problem? The model number is G336N.

Our Answer:

If the fireplace is vented horizontally and has a short run to the outside wall, the firebox can indeed become cold and radiate some cold air to the room. However, if the glass is not sealed properly, some cold air can leak inside as well. Are you able to feel any cold air leaking from around the frame of the glass? If you are unable to tell, a good way to check is to use a lighter or match. After lighting the match, slowly move around the perimeter of the glass to see if the flame is disturbed by a draft of cold air. If you do find an air leak, inspect the gasket by removing the glass door. The gasket will need replacement if it is crushed or damaged. If the gasket appears fine, the door may just need to be re-seated and tightened down again.
