I have a traditional fireplace, brick chimney, smoke chamber and flue. How do I connect the flex liner to the bottom end of the brick chimney above the fireplace?

Our Answer:

If you are simply relining the chimney for continued use as an open faced model, you would need to use a bottom support plate and support leg system. An example of the bottom plate is the HomeSaver Pro 18 inch x 18 inch Top/Bottom Plate for 5.5- or 6 inch Chimney Liner. The plate would be cut to fit the base of your flue and held in position with the HomeSaver Universal Size Bottom Plate Leg Support System. Another option would be to cut rebar to length and attach it to the base of the plate using brackets made of U-channel.
