Just noticed that the pilot light flame is double its normal size. Do we need to be concerned, and how do we turn it down to the normal size?

Our Answer:

If the pilot frame is going far beyond the thermocouple probe, the pilot may be adjusted too high. The gas valve assembly will have a slotted adjustment screw, which can be used to lessen the pilot output. However, this must be done in small increments, as the flame still needs to engulf the thermocouple probe.
