I have a Napoleon 1400 Woodburning fireplace insert that was installed in 1997. Does that have the same EPA rating/efficiency as the 1402?

Our Answer:

After checking with the manufacturer, they have advised that they did not produce a 1400 wood burning insert. This was a free standing stove, with a pedestal base. They did produce a 1401 insert, which could possibly be what you have. Either way, the 1400 stove and the 1401 and 1402 inserts all have fireboxes that are built around the same chassis. Both of the inserts are EPA compliant, meaning they will have an efficiency rating around 70 percent or higher and will emit 5.0 grams or less of material per kilogram of fuel.
