When you say "match light," are you lighting a pilot which then stays on? Should the pilot go out, will the gas valve close?

Our Answer:

Match light gas log sets will not have a pilot assembly. Rather, you would need to use a lighter or long match to manually light the log burner after opening the gas valve. In order to extinguish the flames, you would simply close the gas valve completely.
