I have model DV34. The pilot light will light but will not stay lit. How do I go about fixing it?

Our Answer:

Before proceeding further, please double check to be sure the pilot is adjusted properly in respect to the thermocouple. If the pilot flame is too small or not aimed properly, it will not engulf the upper third of the thermocouple or thermopile probe as it should. If the pilot does indeed appear to be too small, there is a slotted screw head on the gas valve itself that will be labeled "pilot" or "pilot adjustment." This screw can be rotated to adjust the pilot. If the pilot does appear to be engulfing the upper third of the thermocouple, it is likely the thermocouple itself is defective. The (No Suggestions) line is older, but some parts are still available for it.
