How do you measure for a new screen? Does the old one just slide off?

Our Answer:

For hanging screens, it would be best to measure the width and height of the individual screen panels, as this is how the replacements are advertised. Some screens include the approximately 1/2" of height added by the hanging screen rings. Remove the screen by loosening and removing the screw in the center of the screen rod. This should allow the screen rod to be pulled out of the fireplace and the screens to be removed.
