Our fireplace is 30 X 36; do we get a door slightly bigger?

Our Answer:

If you have a masonry fireplace, you will need to purchase a door assembly that is slightly larger. Most door assemblies that fit a 30 x 36 opening will measure 33-34 inches tall and 38-40 inches wide. This allows the space needed to mount the hardware to the fireplace face. If you have a manufactured (metal) fireplace, the doors are manufacturer-specific and will fit just inside the opening.
