I currently have an older model wood burning Marco prefabricated fire place. I plan to eliminate my chimney and want add gas logs. Can this be used to direct vent from the existing fire box?

Our Answer:

Are you interested in simply installing a gas log set or would you prefer a full direct vent insert? If you're simply interested in a gas log set, there is no need to alter the venting to your fireplace. Unless, of course, there is a problem with the current venting. Our gas logs sets are designed to be used in wood burning fireplaces with their venting intact. If your chimney does require relining, this would not be the pipe for you. The CPF-68830 is designed specifically to be one liner of a two liner, coaxial venting installation for direct vent appliances. If you are looking for a direct vent insert and lining components, please let us know.
