What is the difference when it says circulating and non circulating? What does it mean when it says full insulation? What does it mean when it says radiant heat.

Our Answer:

Circulating fireboxes have the ability to pull in room air, heat it and return it to the room either passively or with the assistance of a blower. This is accomplished through the louvres above and below the firebox opening. Non-circulating boxes do not have this feature. A fully insulated box is recommended when the fireplace is installed on an exterior wall. The full insulation keeps the cold air out and the warm air in. Since this unit has a smooth face and does not circulate heated air it must rely on radiant heat to heat your room. Radiant heat is heat which radiates out from an element, warming objects rather than the air.
