Our Answer:

This remote should not alter the flame height of your log set unless you're commanding it to do so. My first impression would be that the receiver portion is defective. However, these units do have an over-temp shut off feature. If the receiver is installed too closely to the log set or simply reaches a temp higher than 130 degrees, it will automatically turn off the log set. Confirm that the receiver is placed as far forward on the hearth as possible.

In Response to Question:

I have this remote that was supplied by the vendor that sold me the Golden Blount Super fire 3624. When I hook it up the fireplace and push the button, it makes the flame shut off. When I switch the black wire to the red wire and the red to the black, (reverse it) the flame comes up when the button is held, as soon as I let go of the button the flame dies down. Is this unit defective or am I missing something?
