Our Answer:

Your thoughts to fully frame in the firebox and venting run are right on track. However, this unit is not designed to be installed outdoors. Even if the unit is protected from the elements, the ambient humidity would wreak havoc on the unit. We do offer full stainless steel units that are specified for exterior use. In Response to Question:

I have a screened porch built in front of my camper. I would like to put this fireplace at the end of the porch. The floor is wood, but we would put fireproof flooring/material in front of and around the fireplace. Can we build a wooden "frame" for the fireplace? Can we build a wooden "chimney" box around the pipe? What else will we need to add to this product to be fully operational safely? Our roofs are tin. We are in a wooded area.
