Our Answer:

This item is only a firebox. It requires the installation of a ventless gas log set for completion. It is large enough to accommodate an 18" log set. Log sets of that size have a BTU range of 20,000 to 36,000 BTU. Please be aware that many jurisdictions prohibit the installation of vent free appliances. Much of California is among these.
