Our Answer:

Unfortunately, due to the lack of an effective ignition system, the manufacturer's units that we carry do not have an electronic ignition system. Standing pilot systems have proven much more reliable and as a result, are still the most prevalent. A reliable electronic ignition system for an insert has yet to be implemented, but there should be more choices in the future.

In Response to Question:

I am looking for a propane direct vent fireplace insert that DOES NOT have a continuous pilot lit (so that gas is only coming into the house when I want to light it, not all the time). However, I also want to use it for power outages, so am wondering if there is one with an electric lighting capacity (and not a propane pilot) that runs on a battery back-up in case of outage?
