Our Answer:

This unit naturally pulls combustion air from the room in which it is installed. However, you do have the option to install a fresh air intake kit onto the unit. This will ensure a steady supply of combustion air. The fresh air adaptor is installed on the insert's left side. Duct work will need to be connected to this adaptor to complete the fresh air kit. My question relates to the fresh air Intake... My existing fireplace is supplied with Fresh air from the outside... only it has a metal cover over it with an open\close handle. I'm sure I could take that metal plate off and just have it open but I'm not sure it will line up with the intake on the insert. Does the fresh air supply have to sealed like the exhaust?
