I have vent free logs installed in a previously wood-burning fireplace in my greatroom. My mantel gets very hot and most of the heat goes upstairs via the balcony above the greatroom. Would this help?

Our Answer:

A blower can help to an extent, but the fireplace must be a model of firebox that can accept a blower system. Is the wood burning unit a masonry fireplace or a prefabricated metal unit? You may also consider installing a deflector hood, if the blower cannot be installed into the unit. Please advise at your convenience.
