Our Answer:

While the venting system cannot end into your existing chimney, you can run the vent pipe through the existing chimney flue to the outdoors. The "chimney flue" that is mentioned in the manual is referring to the vent pipe from the unit itself and the fact that another appliance cannot tie into the same pipe run. As long as your existing chimney is large enough, you can run the metal chimney from the appliance straight through to the outdoors.

In Response to Question:

Can I insert the vent piping of this model gas stove into a chimney flue? The chimney will not have another appliance attached to it. I did read the owners manual which mentioned 'chimney flue' once. It said : "Do not connect this stove and burner system to a chimney flue serving a separate solid-fuel burning stove or appliance." But that's all that I read on the subject. Can I safely assume that it will be OK to attach the vent piping into the chimney flue? Also, can I use this stove as my primary source of heating?
