Our Answer:

To keep the unit from cracking, it is best to burn at least 2-3 small fires for 1 hour at a time. The fires should be kept to only kindling and 1-2 small logs that will burn down within the 1 hour time frame. This allows any remaining moisture to slowly evaporate from the panel, without causing it to dry out too quickly, leading to crack formation. After these small initial fires, the unit can once again be used as normal.
